DESCRIPTION: APW - Hamilton, "Mermod, Jaccard & King, St. Louis, Railway Service" marked mvt, Grade 991, 21J, 16S, 14K gold original Lissauer & Co HC with Mermod, Jaccard & King marking, front with initials, gold cuvette engraved "Joseph B.F. Moakley," "Mermod, Jaccard & King Jewelry Co, St. Louis" marked white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, gilt screws and regulator assembly, pinstriped pattern nickel damascene, s#361202. Gross weight of assembled watch 71.9 dwt (111.8 g). A very rare triple signed private label for this prestigious Midwestern jeweler. This watch is listed in the Hamilton factory ledger as having been sold to Mermod, Jaccard & King on November 19th, 1906 and is one of just four watches from this production run which were bought by this firm. From the well-known Hamilton collection of Robert Bennett of Olivehurst, California.
CONDITION: Mvt: Ticking very sluggishly with very low balance amplitude, overhaul recommended, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, scattered bits of oxide to larger winding wheel, plates with few fine and micro-fine scratches; dial with scratch across outer chapter at 2, light hl above seconds-register, small flake to rim of center hole above hands, few mild fine scratches in center section; fine hands; case shows light wear, dent to right perimeter of rear, small dent to lower left perimeter of rear, ding to upper perimeter of rear, engraving detail with mild reduction; tight bow thinned at top, replacement crown shows hardly any wear; good glass crystal.
